Today we will explore how unity is so powerful both in the kingdom of God and in the kingdom of darkness.

And the whole earth was one language, and of one speech. And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there. ~ Genesis 11:1-2 KJV

So we can see from these scriptures that the whole earth was in unity of language and the way they spoke in thoughts and ideas.

And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them thoroughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for morter. And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth. And the Lord came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded. ~ Genesis 11:3-5 KJV

The people of this time were working together and they had an idea to build a city and a tower. They had set a plan and they began to work towards the goal. In the process the Lord came to see what they were doing.

And the Lord said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they began to do; and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do. ~ Genesis 11:6 KJV

The word “one” in Hebrew is “echad“. It is the same word used in Deuteronomy 6:4. When we compare the two scriptures we can see it has a meaning of working together in unity.

Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord. ~ Deuteronomy 6:4 KJV

We know our God is a trinity. We have the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Together they are ONE. We are one with him and we are co-laborers in Christ. He needs us to accomplish His plan on earth.

The Lord said there is nothing that would keep them from doing what the people imagined to do. People can imagine lots of things. Some are good thoughts and some are bad. God gave us the ability to imagine when he created us. When these people were imagining things they imagined to do something evil. So this is why the Lord had to confuse their language. They could not work together anymore because they could not understand each other. He shows us that there is nothing that can stop us when we work together.

Go to, let us go down, and here confound their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech. So the Lord scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city. Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the Lord did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the Lord scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth. ~ Genesis 11:7-9 KJV

In current events we can see that evil is working together. The agents of the kingdom of darkness are working as one. There is nothing that can stop them when they are working as one in unity and a common goal. Jesus said, a house divided will fall. In three instances this was noted in the Bible.

And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand: ~ Matthew 12:25 KJV

And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand. ~ Mark 3:25 KJV

But he, knowing their thoughts, said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and a house divided against a house falleth. ~ Luke 11:7 KJV

As the agents of the Kingdom of God come together to fight against the evil we can stop the advancement. There will come a time when it appears we have lost because we are not working in unity against this evil. It will appear as though they have overcome and there is no hope for us to win. But the good news is when that time comes this is when Jesus returns. He will not allow the darkness to defeat us or Israel the nation. He is our savior and our King. Rejoice and be glad because although times look tough and hopeless we have a promise from our Lord. He will not abandon us nor forsake us. He is our victory!
