Look To The Ant

Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise: (7) Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler, (8) provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest. ~ Proverbs 6:6-8 KJV

What can we learn when we look at the little black ant? For one thing we always see them working. They are non stop. They can lift way more than their own weight. They are always gathering food and storing for a future use. This is what we know of them naturally just by observing them in your daily life.

Now if we dug deeper into an ant’s life you could have more information about how they live. But for the purpose of these scriptures we can ask, “What do these scripture mean?” When we read the scriptures again we can see the author was making a reference to an ant and a “sluggard”. A sluggard is a person who is lazy. Just from the little bit that we know of ants we can see they are not lazy. They are always working and gathering for the future. We need to take note of this behavior. They don’t have someone constantly telling them to move. They don’t have a ruler or someone who is telling them what to do. They take initiative.

We should plan for the future. When we think of our children we must leave an inheritance for them. In God’s eyes this is something we should all do. We shouldn’t live our life only for today and not think to leave them something to carry on. Success in this life is leaving an inheritance for your children and your children’s children. This is maximizing our blessings in this life.

So when you open your eyes to get ready for work don’t only think of what you can accomplish today for yourself. Don’t be lazy! Think of prosperity for your children. Remember to work to leave something for your children’s children. You will be considered wise when you do this.
