And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly. ~ 1 Corinthians 15:49 KJV
What is the “image of the heavenly“? If we look at the whole context where this scripture is found we can see that Paul was teaching about how our bodies will be transformed in to an incorruptible body. Just as Jesus was human and walked on the earth, we too, are the same in that respect, obviously. We have an earthly body that experiences the 5 senses; taste, see, smell, hear, and feel. Jesus knows what we go through because he faced the same challenges and understands what we face daily.
We have accepted Jesus into our lives so we have welcomed the Trinity to live in us. We are 3 parts and they consist of the spirit, soul and body.
And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. ~ 1 Thessalonians 5:23 KJV
When our Lord Jesus returns our bodies will be transformed into an incorruptible body. This means it will never die and it will never get corrupted. It will never grow old. We will be exactly how God created us to be from the very beginning when Adam and Eve lived in the Garden of Eden.
The “image of the heavenly” is referring to Jesus and how he is. He is filled with grace, love and his body is renewed. It was transformed into an incorruptible body after he defeated death at the cross. He is the image we strive to be like in this life in every aspect; from his loving heart to the relationship he has with the Father and much more.
So beloved, rejoice and look forward to what we will be transformed in to upon His return. This life is but a flash when we put things in the light of eternity.
