The Sorcerers vs God
Today I would like to show you how the enemy always tries to imitate God. One of the reasons “Lucifer” was cast out of heaven was because he wanted to be like God. He wanted the praise for himself. If we are not grounded in the word we can be fooled by his schemes of likeness. It would seem strange to think how can the enemy compare to God. It is true none can compare to him. If you don’t know who God is this is how the enemy can fool someone. God is over everything but the enemy wants to be “like” him and deceive everyone. This topic is important because when we study the Book of Revelation we will see how his schemes come into play to fool the world.
In the Old Testament when Moses was telling Pharaoh to let God’s people go Aaron was instructed to lay down his staff or rod and it would turn into a snake. He did this but what did the Pharaoh’s sorcerers do?
When Pharaoh shall speak unto you, saying, Shew a miracle for you: then thou shalt say unto Aaron, Take thy rod, and cast it before Pharaoh, and it shall become a serpent. Exodus 7:9 KJV
Then Pharaoh also called the wise men and the sorcerers: now the magicians of Egypt, they also did in like manner with their enchantments. Exodus 7:11 KJV
The sorcerers imitated the power of God. When Pharaoh again refused to let the people go Aaron’s rod which was a snake swallowed up the other snakes. This is found in the next verse V7:12 When we observe the enemy at work we can see he tries to imitate our God.
In the Book of Revelation when the Apostle John gives us a description of his vision we can see the enemy is no different in the near future. Let us look at two scenarios which are similar to what we read in the Old Testament regarding the working of miracles.
* The Two Witnesses *
And if any man will hurt them, fire proceedeth out of their mouth, and devoureth their enemies: and if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be killed. These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will. Revelation 11:5-6 KJV
In the city of Jerusalem, which the Apostle John will refer to as the “holy city”, the two witnesses are performing miracles and displaying the power of God towards anyone who is against them. The enemy during this time will also be displaying sorcery to deceive and confuse those who see it.
* The Work of Deception *
And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty. Revelation 16:13-14 KJV
The three unclean spirits like frogs represent the spirits of devils. The ones who will do sorcery. This sorcery is what will deceive the leaders and countries who are against Israel. They will believe their cause is worthy because they see the so called “miracles” of the devil and will call it God’s work. So just as the sorcerers in the Old Testament were doing miracles to show others they have power, when the time arises the enemy will be doing this again.
The more we know and understand the Word the better we can be prepared against any deception. In the last days deception will increase. This means if someone does not know who God truly is they will be deceived. The less a person is in fellowship with the Lord the more likely a person can be misled down the wrong path. Normally, in our teachings we prefer to focus on the Lord but we believe this is a time to know how our enemy works. This is how we can equip the saints. If the Bible states there will be many people deceived then there must be a lack of understanding his methods. Therefore, we pray these teachings can open your eyes, as well as many others, to be prepared. Have a blessed day!
