And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. John 8:32
~ You heard the truth, now are you living the whole truth? Many of us are saved but unfortunately still captive. When you hear the truth you find out out so many things about your life and yourself. Here’s another truth that is so important for everyone. The word “free” also means you are free from your own self centered desires. The truth is all of us are walking out our salvation our whole lifetime. Correct? We are chiseled and molded into the image of Christ. Everyday we must deny ourselves, pick up our cross, and follow Jesus. Denying ourselves is where the freedom begins.
If someone mistreats us that goes out the window. Why? Because we are still alive to ourselves. On one aspect of life we must realize that it’s not about us. It’s all about Him! We have heard that before but the truth is we forget so quickly. We come to God so many times asking Him to fix us after people and life have wounded us. We need to start practicing how to deny your desire to have people treat you the way you have set it in your mind.
We have to train ourselves to not “expect” courtesy; to not expect a “thank you”; to not expect a “please”; to not expect recognition for anything you do for the Kingdom as some examples. If we can start there we are on our way to being free from ourselves. Meditate on that for a while.
If we don’t get offended for people’s lack of courtesy or manners toward us then we are truly dying to ourselves. If satan can’t use people to get under our skin then that’s another victory for us. Now we are letting Jesus live through us. That is our goal! Then we are truly free.
