Daniel’s End Time Prophecy

Daniel’s End Time Prophecy

Today’s topic is about one of the end time prophecies Daniel spoke in chapter 8. People will give you ideas and opinions of what they think this prophecy means. We will look over this scripture and dissect it to come to a decent conclusion. Then you can decide if it truly means what we discover.

“Then I heard one saint speaking, and another saint said unto that certain saint which spake, How long shall be the vision concerning the daily sacrifice, and the transgression of desolation, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden under foot? And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed.” Daniel 8:13-14 KJV

This is a prophetic vision the prophet Daniel had about the end times. Similar to John’s vision in the book of Revelation, some events can be applied to Daniel’s lifetime. But as always, when we are discussing spiritual matters you are dealing with the same demons in different eras. This is why we can see some events already occurred but can happen again.

Daniel sees two people asking each other how long will the evil events mentioned earlier occur? The answer given was 2300 days. This is roughly 6.3 years.

I want to briefly review the word “host” and what was mentioned in the Old Testament.

“And let thy name be magnified for ever, saying, The Lord of hosts is the God over Israel: and let the house of thy servant David be established before thee.” 2 Samuel 7:26 KJV

According to the scripture above the “Lord of hosts is referring to the Lord Jesus. If we establish this truth in the beginning it can make things clear for the rest. The “host” in the verse found in Daniel 8:14 is referring to Israel. We know this because we see the Bible states Jesus is the Lord God over Israel.

Next, what does the “daily sacrifice” pertain to? This applies to the religious ritual Israel does according to the Law of Moses.

What is the “transgression of desolation”? This is referring to a sin (transgression) that is astonishing or unbelievable (desolation).

What does the “sanctuary and the host to be trodden under foot” mean? The sanctuary is another name for temple. This temple will be in Jerusalem. The host we know is referring to Israel and this is telling us Israel will be overrun or trampled on. In other words they will be taken over by the enemy. The cleansing of the sanctuary means there are some things that will occur in the temple where only the Lord can spiritually cleanse it again.

What will be so evil that the Lord would need to cleanse it? This will be when the enemy will come into the temple/sanctuary and say he is god. This would indeed be a disturbing sight to hear and see.

“Yea, he magnified himself even to the prince of the host, and by him the daily sacrifice was taken away, and the place of his sanctuary was cast down.” Daniel 8:11 KJV

The “prince of the host” is another name for Jesus. Jesus is also known as the prince of peace. As you read in the scripture above this person will enter the sanctuary and magnify himself. He can only magnify himself by saying he is god.

The reason the Israelites do sacrifices is to make an atonement for sin. But if the one who magnifies himself as god has arrived, then sacrifices are no longer needed. They can be taken away. This is what he does. The one who entered the temple removes the sacrifices and defiles the sanctuary when he magnifies himself (as god).

According to the word, it will take about 6.3 years (2300 days) until this particular event occurs, when this person will have the nerve to enter the temple of God and say such an abomination. But the good news is the Lord of hosts will make His appearance shortly after and remove him from the scene.

This vision ties in and agrees with John’s vision and events in Revelation. Both prophets have been given insight into the end times of Israel. End times pertain to the event that lead up to the return of the Lord Jesus.

Revelation 13 ties in together with what John speaks about the beast and the blasphemes he speaks about the most high. That is the abomination of desolation.

“And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months. And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven.” Revelation 13:5–6 KJV

“And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.” Revelation 13:8 KJV

This beast motioned in Revelation is the one who magnifies himself in the temple/sanctuary. The same person we find in Daniel 8:11. This beast is the one whom the Lord will cleanse from the sanctuary. He defiled it with his blasphemies and atrocities of the most high God. The beast does this for 3.5 years (42 months), the last part of the 6.3 yrs in Daniel’s prophecy.

As we have read, both Daniel and John prophesy events that are linked to the end times of Israel.

“And in the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors are come to the full, a king of fierce countenance, and understanding dark sentences, shall stand up.” Daniel 8:23 KJV

This king of fierce countenance is referring to the beast in Revelation 13. He is the beast that rises with Satan’s power.

“And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power: and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper, and practise, and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people.” Daniel 8:24 KJV

The beast, through cunning plans, will be able to destroy the people of Israel. They are the mighty and holy people.

“And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand.” Daniel 8:25 KJV

Craft in the beast’s hand is deceit and whatever is false. Again the beast will magnify himself in his heart. If you notice he is doing the exact same thing Lucifer did when pride was found in his heart. The beast will also pump up his own ego. He gets so bold he will threaten the Prince of princes. This would be Jesus. On the last part of the scripture it is basically saying without force the Lord will subdue the beast. This is the verse John states the beast will be cast into the lake of fire.

“And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.” Revelation 19:20 KJV

And here you have the final scene of the beast and his false prophet. Effortlessly Jesus will cast them where they belong. After seeing these two comparisons we can see they fit together perfectly. You can draw your own conclusion from here.

We hope you were blessed with these insights. Until the next time…
