Do Babies Go To Hell When They Die?

In today’s post we will cover a topic that is often controversial. There are many topics in the Bible that believers seem to disagree but I will  continue to respond to controversial topics using scriptures. You can ultimately decide your own conclusion after this study.

If we commence by looking at a psalm David wrote we can begin the groundwork. Psalm 51 was written by David in the Old Testament. This was clearly before Jesus’ work on the cross. David had committed adultery with Bathsheba and a baby was born because of this affair. David fasted for his son to live but unfortunately, he ultimately died. David made an interesting comment and said he would go to be with him. This comment was regarding a later time after David would pass away. This was a place believers would go when they died.

“But now he is dead, wherefore should I fast? can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me.” 2 Samuel 12:23 KJV

According to the Bible, Jesus went to rescue these people before He would ascend to heaven. This place was known as “Abraham’s bosom”. After the cross, anyone who dies in Christ will not go there any longer. They go to heaven. So we can put two and two together. Wherever the baby was after he passed away was where David was going when he died. David was a man after God’s heart and he was rescued from eternal separation and the grave.

* The Kingdom of God *

“But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein.” Luke 18:16-17 KJV

Jesus often spoke about the children coming to him and entering the kingdom of God. There is a reason why Jesus wants us to have faith like a child. They are pure in heart.

Look what else the prophet Isaiah tells us.

“All your children shall be taught by the Lord, and great shall be the peace of your children.”– Isaiah 54:13

This is a prophetic scripture and it is found in a section regarding the time when Jesus has returned to earth as king and reigns for 1000 years. 

“And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.”Matthew 18:3-4 KJV

A child is naive and believes what you tell them. Jesus says a person who can humble themselves like a child is greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Obviously, Jesus places great value in children. He wants you to believe everything He says too. 

Faith has a part in salvation there’s no doubt about that. Everyone is created in the image of God, every life is important to God and every life has a soul that is eternal. No matter what stage in life. If someone has not known the Lord they need to make a choice.

“For before the child shall know to refuse the evil, and choose the good, the land that thou abhorrest shall be forsaken of both her kings.”Isaiah 7:16 KJV

Babies, for instance, have a mind with a blank slate. They have not known evil. They do not have the capability to believe for two reasons. They are a baby and because they have not heard the gospel. They will have a chance to hear, see and know Jesus in the Lord’s kingdom. At the end of the 1000 yrs they will have a choice – to choose the Lord or the enemy.

“Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?” Matthew 6:26 KJV

Humans are more valuable than the birds. Many people will argue babies are going to hell but if we take into account what the scriptures say regarding “choice” they have not been able to make a choice. Babies that have died will have a chance to make a choice for or against the Lord. They would be the only ones in the millennial reign who have not known Satan and his schemes and this is why they might choose to go with him when he is released. There will be no new babies born in the millennial kingdom nor people given in marriage. This is what the Bible tells us.

And Jesus answering said unto them, The children of this world marry, and are given in marriage: 35 But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage: 36 Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection. Luke 20:34-36 KJV

Think about this… when the last trumpet blows followers of Christ have transformed into glorious bodies and the ones who died are resurrected. When Jesus returns He will select and reward His followers with cities to rule over because they have the same mind as Christ. They proved their faithfulness to His ways when they were alive in the “old” world. They are worthy to be counted as leaders. When the new era begins the King’s subjects who live in the new kingdom need to be taught the Lord’s ways. Babies that died before their time will be part of this kingdom learning His ways. 

According to the prophet Zechariah 14:16, one of the things the Bible tells us will happen in the millennial reign will be one more feast of the Lord to partake during that time. It is known as the “Feast or Festival of Tabernacles”. And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog, and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. Revelation 20:7-8 KJV

The scriptures above tell us Satan has been kept in chains for 1000 years and then he will be let loose. He will do what he did back in the Garden of Eden. He will deceive people who have not known his ways to follow him. The millennial kingdom will be full of people who are naive to deception and his cunningness. This will be the final choice they must make to choose to be with the Lord. Just as in the old age people were given a choice, in this new age people will also be given the option to choose. The Lord does not force anyone to be with Him. He will show us love and we will live with His love. You should be able to see now how the babies and children of age below the knowledge of good and evil will be part of the new kingdom. 

The Lord Jesus has been given an assignment to rid the earth of the Father’s enemies. This is the final phase when the last enemies are revealed and those who choose to be against Him once more will be removed permanently.
