Fruit of the Spirit and Gifts of the Spirit

Fruit of the Spirit and Gifts of the Spirit

Today’s study is short and quick but insightful. We need to always remember God is so wise and intentional with the things He says and has left us in the written Word. I always believed the Bible translation we study from is so important. Many versions have been diluted or leave certain scriptures out. This is not good for the body of Christ. But thank God the Lord sent us the Holy Spirit to help us along our journey of knowing Him.

Below you will find a short list of how the fruits of the Spirit coincides or works together with the gifts of the Spirit. The fruit of the Spirit is listed in Galatians 5:22 and the Gifts of the Holy Spirit are found in 1 Corinthians 12:8-10.

Love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance – Galatians 5:22 KJV

For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; 1 Corinthians 12:8 KJV

To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; 1 Corinthians 12:9 KJV

To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: 1 Corinthians 12:10 KJV

 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will. 1 Corinthians 12:11 KJV

Love is the first fruit = Wisdom is the first gift

Knowledge = knowledge brings joy

Gift of faith = won’t profit or benefit anyone unless you have peace

Gift of Healings can manifest with a person who is long-suffering. (That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; Phil 3:10) You need to be so in the spirit with the sufferer that you enter right into his need.

Working of miracles – gentleness and goodness. Some people may view the ministry that achieves results as rude or tough but we cannot turn to please man. We have one master and his name is Jesus.

Spirit of prophecy – coincides with faith. We share our testimony of how we were saved. Revelation 19:10 tells us we overcome by the blood of the lamb and the word of our testimony. When we share our testimony we can go in to the gift of prophecy.

Meekness – is gentleness, mildness and by implication – humility. When we humble ourselves we can see clearly either spiritually or naturally. To discern spirits we must be humble to hear the Spirit guide us.

Temperance – is the opposite of lawlessness. This means when we have self-control, one who masters his desires and passions. A spirit of disobedience and a spirit of lawlessness is one in the same. One who follows righteousness has temperance especially when we face a brother or sister captive by the devil.

May these insights bring you joy in knowing the Lord more intimately. When you study the Bible ask the Lord to give you a deeper understanding of His word and watch how He reveals great things to you. Be blessed and please do come back for more. He is not done yet! Hallelujah!
