How Do We know We Are In The End Times?
In today’s topic we will review some of the Biblical events that have deep meaning you may not have seen or noticed before. There are many natural events that are definitely marking the times we are living in as the end times and there are so many. Not only are there natural disasters, prophesies being fulfilled but there are also hidden clues about Israel and the return of the Lord Jesus. Let us review some of those now.
The information that we will review is very interesting, at least to me. It is found in the story of Lazarus when Jesus rose him up from the dead. It says that by the time He arrived it had been a total of 4 days. From Jewish culture, a person could rise from the dead in 3 days but if they had been dead for 4 that would be a miracle and impossible. Jesus received word that Lazarus was sick. Instead of immediately returning to town to see him, He remained where He was for another 2 days.
When he had heard therefore that he was sick, he abode two days still in the same place where he was. John 11:6 KJV
These things said he: and after that he saith unto them, Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep. John 11:11 KJV
Of course, the disciples understood that Lazarus was only sleeping. But Jesus had to tell them bluntly and confirm that he was dead.
Then when Jesus came, he found that he had lain in the grave four days already. John 11:17 KJV
Shortly after Jesus arrived to the town, He raised Lazarus from the dead. His resurrection from the dead is applicable to Israel today. You may be asking yourself, so how does this apply to Israel now? What I would like to show you is a hidden spiritual aspect pertaining to Israel. This little tid bit of a clue is something that shows us a timeline for Israel. Israel has been spiritually dead for 4000 years. If we really analyze this with spiritual eyes this would be equal to 4 days in the eyes of the Lord. Israel rejected Jesus when He presented Himself to them. But just like the story of Lazarus, Jesus will return in 2 days. Spiritually speaking, this would mean Jesus is about to return. It would be equal to 2000 years from the time He was born until His return. This story is telling us that Jesus will resurrect the nation of Israel from their spiritual death. Where do I get the 1000 yrs intervals? Peter tells us a day with the Lord is like a 1000 yrs.
But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 2 Peter 3:8 KJV
Now observe, study this and meditate on it. God created the earth in 6 days and on the 7th day He rested. If you have read the Bible you may already know this from Genesis chapter 1. If we use Peter’s scripture of time we will see that the earth is 6000 years old. You may or may not have heard this before. We have not entered the 7th day yet because this would need to include the 1000 years reign of Jesus on earth. When the Lord returns He will live and reign on earth for 1000 years. The 1000 years would be comparable to 1 day. This would complete the 7th day and it would be a time of rest for all of us. We would be in His presence and have everything we need.
I got curious about the name Lazarus mainly because all the names in the bible usually have meaning. I looked up the name and found out Lazarus in Hebrew is “Eleazar”. Lazarus is actually the Latin derivative of the same name. Eleazar means “God to help” or “God has helped”. If we look at the whole spiritual meaning it will look like this. While Lazarus was lying dead, his feet and hands were bound. Symbolically, Lazarus can represent the nation of Israel who is spiritually dead, with their hands and feet bound by their sin. They are not spiritually free because they have not accepted Jesus as their Messiah. When Jesus returns, which we know will be very soon, He will raise them to life and free them from the bonds of their sin.
Another story in the Bible referenced this exactly. Jesus was speaking to them about being free and they said they have always been free but Jesus was talking about spiritual bondage. The pharisees and many of the jewish people did not understand this bondage and instead got angry with Jesus.
And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. They answered him, We be Abraham’s seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free? Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin. John 8:32-34 KJV
Come, and let us return unto the Lord: for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up. After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight. Hosea 6:1-2 KJV
Jesus, through his two witnesses in Jerusalem during the tribulation, will revive the nation of Israel spiritually but when He returns He will also raise up the ones who have passed away.
We hope this little teaching was a blessing. Please mediate on it and share it with others. The Lord is coming soon and we need to spread the Word to those who don’t know Jesus. Stay tuned until next time!
