Looking at the heart of a person
But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height for his stature; because I have refused him; for the Lord seeth not as a man seethe; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart. 1 Samuel 16:7
It is true, isn’t it? We look at people through their appearance and even judge them from that appearance. We can form an opinion of someone by the way they look. We don’t know anything about them but if you meet them the first time that other person needs to make it count. It is difficult to make a great first impression the second time.
At a young age David already had a relationship with God. He was no mighty man at that time; he wasn’t tall or muscular to be chosen as a King over Israel. But God could see David’s tenderness towards Him and God even mentions it in the Word – David is a man after His own heart. (1 Sam 13:14) God can also see your heart which means he can see your true intentions. Can you believe if we ask the Lord to help us see someone through His eyes, we can? Ask the Lord to help you, then listen carefully. Your intimacy with God will grow!
