Mediate on This

And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power. And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads. Revelation 9:3-4 KJV

The Bible tells us that the locusts rise up from out of the pit and they are instructed not to hurt the trees, nor anything green or any tree but only those men who do not have the seal of God. We know that the believers in Christ have been sealed with the Holy Spirit.

In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Ephesians 1:13 KJV

In heaven, the only ones who were not sealed were the Old Testament saints. This would include his army. They were sealed with the seal of God in Revelation chapter 7. 

* Think About This *

Here is what I would like to point out to you for you to think about. Many of us have been thinking the “locusts” are the same kind that attacked the crops in the Old Testament. But you need to think in a spiritual aspect. What do I mean by this? These locusts that are rising up from the pit are not your regular crop eating “locusts.” According to what is written they are fallen angels and have been in captivity for a while. These demonic angels are from the spiritual realm and are being released. We have read in the Bible it is also possible to entertain angels and not be aware. 

Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. Hebrews 13:2 KJV

Their king (king of the “locusts”) is the angel of the bottomless pit and we know him as satan. The attacks the “locusts” do will be spiritual attacks for five months. They have been given permission to harm men on earth who do no have the seal of God. They will not kill them but they will torment them. This is a common tactic of the devil. He is often known to torment people including his own workers of iniquity. This is the reason why it is necessary for the army of God, that is descending with the Lord Jesus, to be protected and sealed with the mark of God. In a later chapter (in chapter 19) it is revealed they will descend with the Lord to do battle and gather up the enemies of God.

* They Were Sealed *

Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads. And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel. Revelation 7:3-4 KJV

All these plagues will be occurring before the church is taken because all this happens before the 7th trumpet sounds. Take note the trumpet does not sound until Revelation chapter 11:15.

As we have read in the Old Testament about the various plagues that were released upon Egypt, so will the 7 plagues be released upon the unbelievers in the end times. Isn’t it interesting that at this point Israel is captive again to the enemy? As mentioned in earlier posts, the church and Israel will be present but will be unharmed.
