Not Seeking The Truth

Not Seeking The Truth

Then came the officers to the chief priests and Pharisees; and they said unto them, Why have ye not brought him? 46 The officers answered, Never man spake like this man. 47 Then answered them the Pharisees, Are ye also deceived? 48 Have any of the rulers or of the Pharisees believed on him? 49 But this people who knoweth not the law are cursed. 50 Nicodemus saith unto them, (he that came to Jesus by night, being one of them,) 51 Doth our law judge any man, before it hear him, and know what he doeth? 52 They answered and said unto him, Art thou also of Galilee? Search, and look: for out of Galilee ariseth no prophet. 53 And every man went unto his own house. John 7:45-53 KJV

This is a passage that discusses the people of the law arguing between themselves about Jesus. They wanted him captured but when the officers came to speak to the chief priests and Pharisees they did not have Jesus with them. These scriptures show us that people in those times did not ask questions to really find out the truth. They had a concept or idea made up in their minds instead of seeking what is the truth.

They knew what was written about Jesus but they did not investigate to see if this was the Messiah that was mentioned in their scriptures. They knew the Christ would come from the town of Bethlehem where David was from in ancient times. They also knew the Christ is the seed of David from the tribe of Judah.

Galilee is divided into two regions, a lower and an upper region. Nazareth is the largest city in the the northern district of Israel but the city itself is in the lower part of Galilee. Now, because Jesus started his ministry in Galilee and not Bethlehem they rejected him as being the Messiah. They could have asked him where he was born and possibly start to see a connection. Even though he performed miracles, signs and wonders it seems that was not enough to satisfy their perceptions.

* No Different in Present Times *

If we look at what is happening around us today it seems people are still acting no different. When the truth is presented they simply confer with what they already know. Usually, it is something they may have heard in a church sermon then they reject what they hear because it does not line up with what they heard before or does not line up with their way of thinking. The bible has stated certain events would happen which lead to the Lord’s return and lets us know the time is approaching.

What world events are you seeing around you? Is it sufficient enough to make you refuse the fact the Lord is returning soon? Plagues are visible, earthquakes are happening, flooding like never before is occurring, there are fires in various parts of the world, people of all levels are calling good evil and evil good, evil is growing and the laws of the land are changing which have been established many years ago.

People are denying the truth that is visible and saying the opposite or declaring the one who brought the truth is mistaken. Signs are visible all around but their minds do not change. I am referring to people who say they are of the faith. Not people of the world. It can be disheartening but don’t give up in doing well. We would expect that way of thinking from them. Don’t make the mistake of being a present day Pharisee.

As believers, we always need to pray, press in, and do research. The Lord reveals truth to the ones who seek to know. Don’t be left out in the dark if you are in doubt. The Lord will reveal it to you if you really want to know. We must remember the Holy Spirit has been given to us to help us, teach us and guide us into all truth. Once you hear a response you simply need to trust it is from the Lord and not your fancy thinking. That is why it’s called “faith”. He can also make it so obvious it would be harder not to believe you heard it from him. After all, you are the one who is asking and He always answers prayers. He is faithful! Trust in the Lord and tell those around you it is time to prepare for his arrival. Teach someone to know Him through a personal relationship with Him and His word. God bless you!
