And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, there stood a man over against him with his sword drawn in his hand: and Joshua went unto him, and said unto him, Art thou for us, or for our adversaries? And he said, Nay; but as captain of the host of the Lord am I now come. Joshua 5:14

~ Did you realize that Jesus appeared to the people of Israel in the Old Testament? That’s right! In the scripture above that Captain of the host is “Jesus”. He lead the army to victory that day.

In the New Testament there are a couple references to the “captain of the armies” using the Hebrew word Sabaoth. “Lord of Sabaoth”.

And as Esais said before, Except the Lord of Sabaoth had left us a seed, we had been as Sodoma, and been made like unto Gomorrha. Romans 9:29

Behold, the hire of the laborers who have reaped down your fields, which is of  you kept back by fraud, crieth: and the cries of them which have reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth.

Jesus was revealed throughout the Old Testament and he made his presence known several times. He is truly the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. He is our faithful captain and He will lead his army when He returns.
