The Gift of Faith

And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. (23) For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith, ~ Mark 11:22-23 KJV

Is this the same faith used to sit on a chair? Or to fly in an airplane? Or ride in a car? No. There is a natural faith that people exercise and use daily and then there is God’s supernatural faith. It is a faith to believe in the impossible. God using his own faith created the universe and everything we see in this world. It is the highest form of faith. This is also one of the 9 gifts of the Baptism of the Holy Spirit.

Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. (7) And he took him by the right hand and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. ~ Acts 3:6-7 KJV

In this instance Peter was operating in the Gift of Faith. It took faith to lift the man up and see him walk and that is what happened. His faith supernaturally caused the man’s lame body to be restored. If you can expand your thinking to not focus on what you are seeing but to visualize what the truth is for that person they can be touched by the gift of faith.

But Peter put them all forth, and kneeled down, and prayed; and turning him to the body said, Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes: and when she saw Peter, she sat up. (41) And he gave her his hand, and lifted her up, and when he had called the saints and widows, presented her alive. ~ Acts 9:40-42 KJV

In this scenario Tabitha was a disciple and a woman who got sick and died. Peter was not far from where she lived and her friends found out Peter was not too far away and asked him to come over. When he arrived he removed the people from the room who were emotional and distraught about her death. We should always remember that doubt can hinder the power of God. If we are not sure what they are believing it may be a good idea to send them out of the room before you pray. Then you will see the miraculous as God confirms His word.
