The Ways the Enemy Mocks God
* The Hand and The Forehead *
We know the enemy is the Father of lies and distorts the truth at any opportunity he has. Did you know the Lord marked his people in the Old Testament? The mark they received was symbolic. It was the right hand of God that saved them from their troubles as “the right hand of righteousness.” The mark on their foreheads was to remember it was God who saved them out of their troubles. He is the deliverer.
The Jews had a ritual to do before they prayed. God’s name would be written on the outside of one of two square, little black boxes made of leather and fastened between their eyes on their forehead. It was called a phylactery. The box contained scripture passages written on parchment or vellum and traditionally a leather strap was wrapped around the left arm before morning prayers.
And thou shalt shew thy son in that day, saying, This is done because of that which the Lord did unto me when I came forth out of Egypt. And it shall be for a sign unto thee upon thine hand, and for a memorial between thine eyes, that the Lord’s law may be in thy mouth: for with a strong hand hath the Lord brought thee out of Egypt. Exodus 13:8-9 KJV
If you notice we have been taught during the end times the enemy will try to fool you into getting a mark in the right hand or the forehead. He will deceive people including some of God’s people into thinking it is for your own good. Do not be fooled but be vigilant! God is our everything. He is our healer, he is our provider, he is our protection and much more.
The Lord has marked his people with an invisible, internal mark and we know this mark as the Holy Spirit. In these end times we should know the enemy will try to do something to mark those who are his.
And the Lord said unto him, Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark upon the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry for all the abominations that be done in the midst thereof. Ezekiel 9:4 KJV
A mark placed on people found in the Old Testament was a mark to exempt the ones who had it from judgment. In the New Testament the mark that exempts one from judgment is the Holy Spirit. When Jesus presents his followers to God the Father he will bring all those who are written in the book of Life and those who are clothed with the Holy Spirit.
From the scriptures we know the Lord has done certain things to distinguish his people from those who are not his. As mentioned earlier, the enemy will do something similar trying to be like him but also to deceive. When Jesus fasted for 40 days in the desert the enemy tempted him using a version of the scriptures. He twisted what was written in them. Jesus knew what the scriptures really said so he came against him using the word as a shield. If we do not study the word or put it in our spirit then the enemy can tell you something close and one would not know the difference. He cannot deceive you if you know what it really says.
For it is written, He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee: And in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. And Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. Luke 4:10-12 KJV
* The Bow *
If you recall a rainbow is a sign of God’s covenant between him and all flesh that he would not destroy the earth again with a flood. The enemy has distorted this symbolic covenant of God as well.
And I will establish my covenant with you; neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of a flood; neither shall there any more be a flood to destroy the earth. Genesis 9:11 KJV
I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth. Genesis 9:13 KJV
In present times the colors of the rainbow are not the same 7 colors the Lord used. It is one color short, the color indigo. Isn’t it interesting that this missing color represents integrity and intuition (insight, discernment). Over the years the colors have morphed into a rainbow of different colors not just seven but it began with the removal of one color.
We all need to know the Lord and his Word more intimately and this will help us stand against the wiles of the enemy. Let us not be deceived in his trickery. These, of course, are not all the ways the enemy mocks God but a couple of examples to help you see and understand more!
