What Do You Think In Your Heart?
Did you know our thinking can have a physical effect on our bodies? The way we think can have the ability for us to be healthy or not. It seems odd that we could have such power but it is true. Let us look at the passage of the paralyzed man in the book of Mark following this scripture in proverbs.
For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee. Proverbs 23:7 KJV
This scripture is real important to know and understand. It reveals there is a link between how we think and who we are. In our time of ministry on the mission field we have found this scripture to be missing completely or translated in a manner that does not mean the same as it does in English. God has created us to think big and envision prosperity for our future. If we do not have vision we have no purpose. If we think about negative things all the time we will feel defeated and not move towards the plans God has for us.
Notice the scripture states, “as he thinks in his heart.” We can say things but do we really think this way inside of ourselves. Do we really feel loved or are we just saying it for another person to hear? Do we love ourselves or are we thinking we are failures and nothing ever works out for us? These are examples of deep thoughts within our soul that can have an affect on us. This is “the heart” the scripture is referring to.
* The Paralyzed Man *
In the book of Mark chapter 2 we find a passage about a paralyzed man and his four friends seeking for an audience with Jesus at his house. The paralyzed man was on a stretcher and he obviously could not walk so his four friends carried him. We know that faith is a factor in him receiving his healing but there is more to see.
When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee. Mark 2:5 KJV
Now, after reading this scripture I had asked the Lord, “why did you mention his sins are forgiven and then he was able to walk?” In other healing passages Jesus simply commanded a fever to go, in another he prayed twice to give sight to a blind man, and yet another he laid hands on the person and they were healed. The Lord showed me something deeper in the Bible related to this man after I asked him the question.
If a person is sin conscious and intently focused on this type of thinking a person thinks they are not worthy, they may think they are lower than dirt and focus more on the wrong they have done. This man needed to be free in his mind first of what he was thinking about himself. He was conscious of his sin to the point it was damaging his body and could no longer walk on his own. The nerves in his body were paralyzed on one side. Jesus knew what was in his heart and this man needed to be free mentally. Once Jesus spoke he was forgiven of his sins this was the key to open his heart so his body could be whole again. His body followed what was in his soul. The Lord wants us to be healthy in spirit, soul and body.
And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Thessalonians 5:23 KJV
This is how healing works. If your soul, if your way of thinking, lines up with the Word of God, the body will follow. I have experienced healing many times and I know this is what takes place in the soul first. This is why the Bible tells us to mediate on the Word day and night. God wants us to think like it is written. When our mind, will and emotions, which make up the soul, line up with the Word of God, the body has to follow. The Spirit is always in alignment with God’s Word. The soul is a variable. It can sway towards the Spirit or against it. Your 5 senses play a huge role in influencing your soul as well.
There are times when the root of the problem must be addressed first in order for healing to manifest. One can’t always just pray and healing occurs. It may seem strange to read that but it is true. I know first hand because I have been there. Other times it can be spiritual attacks from the enemy because we have given place for him to enter. This isn’t always the case though. Sometimes we do stupid things and wear our body out and therefore get sick.
So if we go back to the paralyzed man we notice he could not walk, Jesus told him his sins are forgiven, and later told him to get up and walk. One Word from Jesus and it changed his life completely.
What are you thinking on? Are you renewing your mind so you can be transformed by the Word of God? If you need healing ask the Lord what scripture or scriptures you can meditate on to manifest your healing. When you meditate on scriptures you really need to focus on what is written. We have a teaching on healing called, Different Ways to Receive Healing and I have a detailed testimony of one of my healings on the site. I prayed and spoke over my body several times but I was still had an issue and needed complete healing. Find out how I received my complete healing. You can read more about it here.
We pray you are prosperous in your spirit, soul and body. May the Word of God transform your life and bring healing to your body. Be whole in Jesus name!
