And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. ~ Revelation 19:14 KJV
Who is this army that follows the one called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war? To answer this question we need to remember the ones who fought against the enemies of God in the Old Testament. Who were the warriors who held swords and trusted in God to deliver them from their enemies who circled?
In the book of Joshua we can see that Jesus revealed himself to the Israelites.
And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, there stood a man over against him with his sword drawn in his hand: and Joshua went unto him, and said unto him, Art thou for us, or for our adversaries? (14) And he said, Nay; but as captain of the host of the Lord and I now come. ~ Joshua 5:13-14 KJV
Jesus told Joshua he was the captain of the host of the Lord. He revealed himself as the captain of God’s army. Then they went to battle and fought against Jericho and defeated them. Most certainly we can say the army that follows Jesus on his second return is all those who fought the enemies of God in the Old Testament. It is all the people who fought with swords with him that belong to Israel and the twelve tribes. Now this doesn’t mean the saints won’t follow. When John was writing his vision he wrote he saw an army in this particular section. There is a distinction between his army and the multitude of all nations, kindreds, and people who are clothed in white. The great thing is that we will be in his presence. Amen!
